| John McCain Wins Louisiana Caucus ARLINGTON, VA -- The Republican Party of Louisiana today announced that John McCain won the Louisiana Caucus held yesterday, January 22nd. On the heels of his win in South Carolina last weekend, victory in Louisiana is another indication of John McCain's growing momentum and of the fact that John McCain is the consistent conservative choice capable of winning the GOP stronghold of the South this November. John McCain's Louisiana Chair, former Governor Buddy Roemer, issued the following statement regarding the results of the Louisiana Caucus: "Last night's results go to show that John McCain is the best hope of conservatives here in Louisiana and across the country. The people of Louisiana know that actions speak louder than words, and that's why they chose John McCain over Mitt Romney. He is the only candidate with a long-held and consistent record of defending life, of protecting our national security, and of promoting pro-growth economic principles that benefit hard-working American families. John McCain is quickly emerging as the consensus candidate in the Republican race and the only conservative who can win this November." | |

| Senator Alfonse D'Amato Endorses John McCain For President ARLINGTON, VA -- Today in New York City, former Senator Alfonse D'Amato (R-NY) endorsed John McCain for President of the United States. Senator D'Amato issued the following statement on endorsing John McCain: "John McCain is a genuine American hero and I am proud to lend him my support. My friendship with John dates back to our days of serving together in the Senate. As a Senator, he stood for fiscal responsibility and an unwavering commitment to defending America in a hostile world. I feel very strongly that John is the only Republican candidate that can defeat the Democrats in a general election and I will do everything I can to make sure he is our next President. "John stood for fighting Islamic terrorism in Iraq when the war was least popular and the cost to him politically was severe. He called for the surge in Iraq and he was right. And now the American people have rewarded him with a surge of his own. "If America really wants a leader who will change the landscape in Washington, change the way we do business in government, change the way government spends your money so it defends your interests, change the way America stands in the eyes of the world community, then the only person who can bring about that change in this race and to this nation, the only man who has the courage to stand up for what he believes in, is John McCain." John McCain thanked Senator D'Amato for his support, stating, "Al D'Amato has dedicated his life to serving the people of New York. His advice and counsel will be critical as we work toward a great victory in New York on February 5th, and I am grateful for his support." | |

| ICYMI: Sylvester Stallone Endorses John McCain From "Fox and Friends" This Morning: Fox News' Brian Kilmeade: "I talked to this famous actor. I asked him who he was endorsing and here's what he had to say." Sylvester Stallone: "I like McCain a lot. A lot. And you know, things may change along the way, but there's something about matching the character with the script. And right now, the script that's being written and reality is pretty brutal and pretty hard-edged like a rough action film, and you need somebody who's been in that to deal with it." Fox News' Steve Doocy: "Look at that, you got the endorsement of Sylvester Stallone, congratulations." John McCain: "I'm going to Philadelphia and running up the steps." | |

| Senator Mel Martinez Endorses John McCain For President ARLINGTON, VA Today in Miami, Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) endorsed John McCain for President of the United States. Senator Martinez issued the following statement on endorsing John McCain: "John McCain is the only candidate ready to lead as commander in chief on day one. He alone has the experience, character and judgment to confront the challenges we face in a dangerous world. He is the one candidate I trust to deal decisively with the transcendent threat of radical Islamic extremism. "I trust John McCain to reinvigorate our economy, cut taxes, eliminate wasteful spending and restore fiscal sanity in Washington. He understands that the best cure for our economic ills is to allow American families to keep more of what they earn. "John McCain has firsthand knowledge of the evils of Communism. For decades, he's led the fight for human rights in Cuba and around the world. I have total confidence that John McCain will be Fidel Castro's worst nightmare. "John McCain's unmatched national security credentials and strong consistent conservative record make him the best candidate to defeat the Democrats in November and lead Republicans to victory in 2008." John McCain thanked Senator Martinez for his support, stating, "Over the past few years, I have had the honor of getting to know Mel Martinez. In that time, I have come to admire him for his leadership and his dedication to the people of Florida. His advice and counsel will be critical as we toward victory in Florida on Tuesday." | |

"There has never been a time that straight talk and an honest approach to the challenges our nation faces could serve this country better," said Senator Burns. "I didn't agree with John on everything, but I knew I could always count on his word, and I am proud to endorse him for president." John McCain thanked Senator Burns, stating, "Conrad served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and was a dedicated representative of the people of Montana for more than two decades. I am humbled by his support." McCain supporters in Montana include Senate Republican Leader Corey Stapleton and Lt. Governor John Bohlinger. Conrad Burns was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 1988, he was reelected in 1994, and again in 2000. | Senator Howard Baker Endorses John McCain For President ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that former Senator Howard H. Baker, Jr. has endorsed John McCain for president. Senator Baker has a long history of service to our nation as Senator from Tennessee, Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, Chief of Staff to President Ronald Reagan, and most recently as U.S. Ambassador to Japan. He served as Honorary National Chair to Fred Thompson's campaign for president. John McCain welcomed Senator Baker's support, stating, "Howard Baker is one of America's finest public servants, having spent virtually all his life in service to our nation. During his time in the Senate, he showed us all how to preserve one's principles and integrity, while accomplishing the business of the country. He was instrumental in proposing and implementing the commission that reformed Social Security. He guided the passage of President Reagan's package of tax cuts and spending restraint that got our economy going again in the 1980s. He gave up his own political aspirations to become President Reagan's Chief of Staff during challenging times. I am honored that a man of his stature and credibility would add his support to my campaign. I pledge that I will continue the Reagan tradition that Howard Baker so ably served."

Florida Governor Charlie Crist Endorses John McCain For President ARLINGTON, VA -- Tonight in St. Petersburg, Florida Governor Charlie Crist endorsed John McCain for President of the United States. "Senator John McCain is a true American hero and patriot and I am honored to endorse him tonight in St. Petersburg," said Governor Crist. "He is a tremendous statesman, leader and uniter. I am confident that his years of experience will serve our country well when he becomes the next President of the United States." John McCain thanked Governor Crist for his support, stating, "Charlie Crist has earned the admiration and respect of the people of Florida for his principled, conservative leadership and boundless optimism for the future of the Sunshine State. He's a leader of the new generation of Republican governors who are putting conservative principles to work for the people of America. I am honored to have his support as we work toward victory in Florida on Tuesday." | |

| First Two Commanders In Chief Of US Special Operations Command Endorse John McCain For President ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that the first two Commanders in Chief of the United States Special Operations Command, General James J. Lindsay, USA (Ret.) and General Carl Stiner, USA (Ret.), have joined over 100 former general and flag officers to endorse John McCain for President of the United States. "Alone among the candidates, Senator McCain had the wisdom to envision a winning strategy in Iraq, and the courage to advocate that strategy despite fierce opposition. That type of leadership -- placing America's interests first -- is precisely what will be required to navigate the difficult challenges ahead," said General Lindsay. "Senator McCain has served America with great distinction as a military officer and a statesman, and his unmatched national security credentials qualify him to lead America's armed forces from his first day in office," said General Stiner. John McCain thanked General Lindsay and General Stiner for their support, stating, "I am deeply honored to have earned the support of two of the finest military leaders this country has produced. General Lindsay and General Stiner are true pioneers in the world of Special Operations, and this country owes them a great debt of gratitude for their service. I am proud to have them on board." General Lindsay's command assignments ranged from platoon through Major Command in peacetime and war. His early assignments were with the 82nd Airborne Division and 77th Special Forces Group. He held eight different positions in the 82nd Airborne from platoon to division level. In Vietnam, he served with the Vietnamese Airborne Brigade, commanded the 2d Battalion 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division and was the G3, 9th Infantry Division. As a General Officer, General Lindsay commanded the 82nd Airborne Division, the Infantry School, and the XVIII Airborne Corps. He also served as Commander in Chief, United States Readiness Command and was the first Commander in Chief of the United States Special Operations Command. General Stiner was the second Commander in Chief of the United States Special Operations Command, serving from 1990 to 1993. Previously, he spent a large part of his career as commander of many of the nation's preeminent contingency strike forces, such as the XVIII Airborne Corps, the 82nd Airborne Division, and the Joint Special Operations Command. Among the missions with which he was involved are the Achille Lauro hostage rescue, the invasion of Panama, and operations during Desert Storm. | |
